Alexie Melek Alcide is a visionary. He is a filmmaker with a musician’s ear, a photographer’s eye, a stylist’s taste and an artist’s touch. Brooklyn-born, Queens-bred, he is in no small part Southern-fried and Caribbean-spiced.
Lex has nine lives. He has known Pop Warner football fame, Georgia Avenue politics, Astor Place nightlife, South Street culture, Fatherhood’s joy… That places him about halfway through his journey.
His inspiration comes from his lives and yours. Most of his work to date reflects urban life and style, the avantgarde, performance art, childhood, infancy, maternity, emotion, and the diaspora. He has stories that need to be told visually and musically, some of them could be yours.
